Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic)
Umoren E. Umoren is a proud son of Ibiono-Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He is a Professor of Animal Science whose professional life includes working as a practical animal feed formulator, a writer as well as an Animal Scientist.
Prof. Umoren obtained his Ph.D in Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition in 1995 from the University of Ibadan. He had earlier obtained his Master of Science (M.Sc) in Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition from the same institution in 1987.
Prof. Umoren has at various times held responsibilities such as Dean (Faculty of Agriculture), Chairman (Committee of Deans), Chairman (Faculty Appointments and Promotion Committee), Chairman (University Research Farm Committee), Vice Chairman (Senate Business Committee), Member (University Research Committee), Member (University Convocation Committee), Member(Prizes and Honour Roll Committee) among others.
Prof. Umoren Umoren is a Professional member of Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) and the Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN). He possess expertise in Nutritional Biochemistry, Monogastric Biochemistry as well as Nutrition and Toxicology. His research interest is in the area of resistance factors in cowpeas to some insect pests.
Before joining the services of Akwa Ibom State University, Prof. Umoren has taught for several years at University of Calabar and the Polytechnic Calabar. He is happily married and blessed with children.
