An Abridged Profile of Prof. Iniobong Fred Akpan Director, Institute of Education and Professional Studies, Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
Prof. Iniobong Akpan has a tall experience in the business of teaching, having commenced his teaching career in the secondary school from 1987-2008, and transferred his service to Akwa Ibom State college of Education, Afaha Nsit where he lectured from 2008 – 2016 before he took up a senior academic staff appointment the same year in Faculty of Education and grew into the rank of Professor in October, 2024. As an erudite scholar, Prof. Akpan has earned many professional Distinctions and Awards to his credit. He is also a member of the following Bodies/Associations: Curriculum Organization of Nigeria (CON), from 2012 till Date, Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) from 2014 till Date, Teachers’ Registration council of Nigeria (TRCN), from 2007 till date. Prof. Akpan has been teaching courses to both the Undergraduate and Postgraduate of both Master’s and Doctoral Degrees and also has supervised many M.Ed and Ph.D students in his field of specialty. He has also served as external examiner for masters and Ph.D students in many universities. Prof. Iniobong Akpan has handled diverse posts of responsibilities both within and outside the University Community. He has also attended conferences, workshops and seminars locally and internationally and has presented many conference papers at both levels. As a seasoned scholar, Prof. Akpan has so far published numerous academic researched articles in both National and International Journals with several Book Chapters’ Contributions in his field of specialization to his credit. He is the Co-author of the book entitled: Fundamentals of Curriculum Development, published in 2016. As a God-fearing Educationist, an Elder of the Qua Iboe Church, Prof. Akpan is married with five blessed children. Prof. Akpan is the immediate past Dean, Faculty of Education and Currently, the Pioneer Director, Institute of Education and Professional Studies.
