Appointment of Principal Officers of the University
The Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State University, at its 68th Virtual Meeting held on Monday, August 24, 2026, considered the report of the Interview Panels and approved the appointment of the following persons as Principal Officers of the University:
Mr. Mfon Solomon Ukpabio - Registrar
Dr. Godswill Udo Okon - University Librarian
This appointment takes effect from October 5, 2026 and shall be for a single term of five (5) years in accordance with the provisions of the Akwa Ibom State University Law and the relevant Statutes of the University.
The Governing Council under the leadership of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Distinguished Senator Udoma U. Udoma, CON, expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly appointed Principal Officers to provide effective leadership in their respective areas of responsibility and to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and development of the University.
The appointments are expected to further strengthen the administrative, financial and library services of the University and support the attainment of its objectives in teaching, research, innovation and community service.
On behalf of the Governing Council, under the leadership of the Chairman of the Governing Council, Distinguished Senator Udoma U. Udoma, CON, Vice-Chancellor, Staff, Students and the entire University community, we congratulate the appointees and wish them a successful tenure.
The University Community is accordingly enjoined to accord the new Principal Officers the necessary cooperation and support to enable them to succeed in their new responsibilities.
