Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has been given full accreditation for all its academic programmes

Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has been given full accreditation for all its academic programmes in the October/November, 2024 accreditation exercise carried out by the National Universities Commission (NUC). This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, Prof Nse U. Essien during the 110th Senate meeting of the University held Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Senate Chamber, Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

‎Prof. Essien said that 10 out of 43 academic programmes went in for the October/November 2024 accreditation exercise and all 10 had full accreditation. He stated that the 10 Departments involved will be due for re-accreditation after 5 years, that is, 2029. According to the Vice-Chancellor, the Departments are: Computer Science, Genetics and Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Physics, Statistics and Zoology. "All other Departments in the University are on full accreditation until their respective due dates for re-accreditation," he added.
