Born on 3 June, 1963, Iniobong F. Akpan hails from Urukata Ikot Udodia village in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Iniobong Akpan holds the following academic and professional qualifications: FSLC, QIC Primary School Utu/Uruk/Ikono in 1973, WASC, CJC Comprehensive Secondary School, Atai Otoro Abak, Abak Local Government Area in 1980, External GCE in December, 2004, B. Sc (Ed) Chemistry, University of Calabar in 1986, M.ED. (Science Edu), University of Benin in 1995, Ph.D, Curriculum Studies (Science Education) University of Calabar in 2012. Dr. Iniobong Akpan has a tall experience in the business of teaching, having commenced his teaching career in the Secondary School from 1987-2008, and transferred his service to Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit where he lectured from 2008-2016 before he took up a senior academic staff appointment the same year with the Faculty of Education and grew into the rank of an Associate Professor in October, 2020. As an erudite scholar, Assoc. Prof. Akpan has earned many Distinctions and Awards to his credit. He is also a member of the following professional bodies/Associations: Curriculum Organization of Nigeria (CON), from 2012 till Date, Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) from 2014 till Date, Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), from 2007 till Date. Assoc. Prof. Akpan has been teaching courses to both the Undergraduate and Postgraduate of both Master’s and Doctoral Degrees and also has supervised many M. Ed and Ph.D students in his field of specialty. Prof. Iniobong Akpan has handled diverse posts of responsibilities both within and outside the University Community. He has also attended conferences, workshops and seminars locally and internationally and has presented many conference papers at both levels. As a seasoned scholar, Prof. Akpan has so far published numerous academic researched articles in both National and International Journals with several Books Chapter Contributions in his field of specialization to his credit. He is the Co-author of the book entitled: Fundamentals of Curriculum Development, published in 2016. As a God-fearing Educationist, an Elder of the Qua Iboe Church, Nigeria, Prof. Akpan is married with five blessed children.Prof. Akpan had served as the Head of Department , Science Education from June 2018 to September 2022.  Presently, Prof. Akpan is the Dean ,  Faculty of Education, Akwa Ibom State University, a position he held since October, 2022 till date.
