
About the Dean
Iniobong Daniel Umotong is a Professor of Philosophy and the current Dean Faculty of Arts, Akwa Ibom State University. Having previously served as the Acting Head, Department of Religious and Cultural Studies (2012. 2013), and also as the Acting Head, Department of Philosophy 2013 – 2016 & 2019 -2022), Coordinator General Studies 2012 -2016), Coordinator Postgraduate Studies Department of Philosophy, Postgraduate coordinator Faculty of Arts (2016 -2022). He has served in several committees within and outside the University community. Prof. Umotong earned a decoration with the Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.), Master of Arts Degree (M.A.), Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A. Hons) in Philosophy, Postgraduate Diploma in Management (GDM), Master’s Degree in International Relations (MSc.), and Diploma in Computer Science. He has well-researched publications in reputable national and international journals and publishing firms around the globe. Prof. Umotong’s research interest includes, but not limited to, Epistemology, Metaphysics, African Philosophy. Peace and Conflict Resolutions, and Computer Applications. He has authored and edited several books and journals, among his numerous published works are; Principles of Digital Humanities, The Crucible of Philosophy, Exploration for Knowledge, Medieval Philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy: A Simplified Approach, Philosophy and Logic for Beginners, Aboriginal African Philosophy, Elements of History and Philosophy of Science, Understanding Nigerian Peoples and Culture, Rudiments of History and Philosophy of Science, Rudiments of Philosophy and Logic, Argument and Critical Reasoning, Theories of Knowledge, Ifiok Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies, Akwa Ibom State University Journal of Arts (AKSUJA).
