AKSU PRO-CHANCELLOR COMMENDS CHANCELLOR AS AKSU LEADERSHIP CALLS FOR RESPONSIBILITY AND TEAMWORK

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State University, Distinguished Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, CON, has expressed profound appreciation to the Chancellor of the University, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, JP, CFR, for graciously hosting members of the newly inaugurated Fourth Governing Council to a luncheon following their maiden meeting held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.


Speaking at the well-attended luncheon, the Pro-Chancellor described the Chancellor’s gesture as a strong demonstration of his unwavering commitment to the unity, stability, and progressive advancement of the University. He noted that the maiden meeting of Council marked a significant milestone in setting a clear and strategic direction for the institution’s future growth and development.


Distinguished Senator Udoma Udo Udoma reaffirmed the Council’s collective resolve to provide purposeful leadership, promote academic excellence, and support innovative initiatives that would further position Akwa Ibom State University as a leading centre of learning, research, and community impact. He emphasized that the opportunity for fellowship created by the luncheon would deepen mutual understanding and strengthen the shared sense of responsibility among key stakeholders in the governance of the University.


In his remarks, the Chancellor of the University, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, JP, CFR, congratulated the substantive Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Otoabasi E. Akpan, the Pro-Chancellor, and members of the newly inaugurated Governing Council on their appointments, describing them as a clear call to responsibility and dedicated service to the institution.


The Chancellor stressed the importance of fostering a cohesive team environment capable of driving the University’s growth through quality leadership, innovation, and adaptability in response to the evolving dynamics of higher education. He further underscored the need to uphold accountability and transparency in all actions and decisions, noting that these principles are essential for sustaining institutional credibility, public trust, and long-term development.


His Eminence expressed confidence that with unity of purpose, strategic collaboration, and commitment to excellence, Akwa Ibom State University would continue to expand its academic frontiers, strengthen its research profile, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the State and the nation at large.


Present at the luncheon was the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Essien Umoh, alongside members of Council, Principal Officers of the University, and other distinguished guests.
