You are welcome to the Department of Computer Science, Akwa Ibom State University, the foremost State University in Nigeria. The department is renowned for innovative research and academic standard and strive to solve societal problems at the regional, national and global level using Computing tools as an enabler to digitalization and digital transformation. Indeed, we are privileged to have gifted students and we strive to educate them to become prospective leaders in ICT and Computing Science.
The Department offers academic programmes at the Bachelor of Science, Post Graduate Diploma and Master’s degrees in various specialties in Computer Science. The design and delivery of these programmes are guided by educational research values and excellent practices and are governed by principles for good service delivery and community accessibility. The Department imparts the knowledge and skills necessary for students to be talented and lead across industries and organizations in a high technological perspective.
Building on the University's extraordinary basis of Science and Technology with entrepreneurship and Social Science development education. The department is pioneering this global effort of developing innovative research and effective teaching environments. The department endeavours to stride with the rapid changes and growths of high technologies and produces High-Quality graduates for the country and the world at large in computing science, ICT, Cyber Security and privacy as well as Data Science Analytics.
Basically, our strategy is centered around people, where Excellence and Integrity, Quality Assurance, Enhancement, Social Justice, Delight and Esteem as well as Outreach are the core values that guide all our activities. We are keen to improve the range of our staff and students’ population. The department focus on diversity which is seen as the metric for shaping the future of higher education in Nigeria.
