Dr Ukponobong E. Antia was born in the city of Cross of River State, Nigeria in 1985. He is the current Head of Microbiology Department, Akwa Ibom State University. He has a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Microbiology with interest in Microbial Physiology and Metabolism from the University of Ibadan (UI), Nigeria. He has worked extensively on the production of bioethanol from mannan polysaccharides (Conversion of Wealth). Currently he supervises some postgraduate students in Microbiology and has published many articles in Applied aspects of Microbiology. He is an active member of the American Society of Microbiology (ASM) and Nigerian Society of Microbiology (NSM).
