DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS & EXTENSION:

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Agricultural Economics

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development

M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics with specialization in: Agribusiness Management, Food Marketing and International Trade, Farm Management and Production Economics, Consumer Welfare and Food Economics, Resource and Environmental Economics, Agricultural Project Planning and Appraisal, Agricultural Cooperative, Agricultural Financial Management.

M. Sc. in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development 

Admission Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Economics

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings.
  2. Higher National Diploma in Agriculture with minimum of lower credit. 
  3. Minimum of Third Class Degree at Bachelor?s level in Agriculture or Science - related disciplines. 
  4. Minimum of Pass in Higher National Diploma in Agriculture or related disciplines with six (6) years cognate experience.

M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings.
  2. Bachelor?s Degree in Agriculture or Science- related disciplines with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
  3. HND Upper Credit plus PGD at Distinction level. 

Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. 
  2. Higher National Diploma in Agriculture with minimum of Lower Credit.
  3. Minimum of Third Class Degree at Bachelor?s level in Agriculture or Science - related disciplines.

 DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL SCIENCE

 Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Animal Science. 

M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Animal Science with specialization in: Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Nutrition and Biochemistry, Animal Physiology, Animal Products and Processing, Animal Production and Management, Pasture and Range Management.

 Admission Requirements

PGD programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings. 
  2. Minimum of 3rd Class Degree in Animal Production/Animal Science or a related discipline.
  3. Minimum of HND Upper Credit in Animal Production/Animal Science.

 M.Sc. Programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings 
  2. Bachelor?s Degree in Animal Science or related discipline with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
  3. HND Upper Credit plus PGD at Distinction Level.  

Ph.D. Programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings 
  2. Master?s Degree in Animal Science or related discipline with a minimum CGPA of 4.00 on a 5-point scale.

DEPARTMENT OF CROP SCIENCE

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Crop Science

M.Sc. in Crop Science with specialization in: Plant Breeding and Genetics, Crop Physiology, Horticulture, Seed Science and Technology, Weed Science, Entomology, Crop Production and Farming Systems. 

Ph.D. in Crop Science with specialization in: Crop Physiology, Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Weed Science, Seed Science and Technology.

Admission Requirements: 

PGD Programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings. 
  2. Higher National Diploma in Agriculture with a minimum of Lower Credit.

(b)     Minimum of 3rd Class Degree at Bachelor?s level in Agriculture with a minimum of five years cognate experience.

(c)      Minimum of Pass in Higher National Diploma with ten (10) years cognate experience.

M.Sc. Programme

 (a)     SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. 

(b)     Bachelor?s Degree in Agriculture or related discipline with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.

(b)     HND Upper Credit plus PGD at Distinction Level.

Ph.D. Programme 

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English 

          Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. 

  1. Masters (MSc) Degree in any of the fields of Agriculture or related discipline with a 

         minimum CGPA of 4.00 on a 5-point scale from recognized institutions.

DEPARTMENT OF SOIL SCIENCE

Postgraduate Diploma in Soil Science.  

Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Soil Science with specialization in: Soil Microbiology, Pedology, Soil Physics and Conservation, Soil Chemistry and Mineralogy, Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition, Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, and Environmental Management.

Admission Requirements

PGD Programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings. 
  2. Higher National Diploma in Agriculture with a minimum of Lower Credit.
  3. Minimum of Third Class Degree at Bachelor?s level in Agriculture or Sciences.
  4.  Minimum of Pass in Higher National Diploma plus ten (10) years cognate  experience.

M.Sc. Programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. 
  2. A Bachelor?s Degree in Agriculture or related discipline, with a minimum of Second Class, lower Division.
  3. HND Upper Credit plus PGD at Distinction Level, in addition to satisfying the University matriculation requirements.

FACULTY OF ARTS

DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY 

M. A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy with specialization in: Metaphysics, Epistemology, Moral Philosophy (Ethics), Logic, History of Philosophy, African Philosophy and Political Philosophy.

Admission Requirements: 

Master of Arts (M.A) programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings 
  2. A minimum of Second Class Lower Division at the Bachelor?s Level in Philosophy from a recognized University.
  3. Holders of Postgraduate Diploma in Philosophy at Distinction Level from a recognized University. 

Ph.D. in Philosophy Programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language at not more than two sittings 
  2. M.A. in Philosophy with a minimum CGPA of 4.00 on a 5-point scale 
  3. A minimum of Second Class Lower Division at the Bachelor?s Level in Philosophy from a recognized University.

DEPARTMENT OF RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL STUDIES

M. A. and Ph.D. in Religious and Cultural Studies with specialization in: African Traditional Religion, Biblical Studies, New Testament, Old Testament, Church History, Philosophy of Religion, Islamic Studies and Sociology of Religion.

Admission Requirements

M.A. Programme

  1.  SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5)subjects including English Language and any four  Arts and Social Science subjects at not more than two sittings.     

b)   A minimum of Second Class Lower Degree in Religious Studies or  its variants (e.g. Religion,  Religious and Cultural Studies, Religious Management and Cultural Studies, Islamic or Christian Religious Studies, Theology).

Ph.D. Programme

a)   SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language at not     

   more than two sittings. 

  1. A Master?s Degree in Religious Studies or its variants from a recognized university, with a minimum  

CGPA of 4.00 on a 5-point scale. 

  1. Candidates who did not make up to 4.00 will be required to register for the M.Phil./Ph.D. programme. Such candidates must present two seminars and a research proposal for grading and must score a minimum CGPA of 4.0 before proceeding to the Ph.D., otherwise the M.Phil. Degree should be awarded upon the submission of a thesis. This thesis would be examined following the procedure of a Ph.D. thesis. 

DEPARTMENT OF PERFORMING ARTS

Master of Arts (M.A.) in Performing Arts  and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Performing Arts with specialization in Theatre; Film Design and Technology; Arts and Events Management; Acting,  Dance and Choreography; Media, Directing and Script Writing; Theatre for Development.

Admission Requirements 

M. A. Programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language and Literature at not more than two sittings. 
  2. Bachelor?s Degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in Performing Arts, Theatre/Media/Film or Creative Arts 

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language and Literature at not more than two sittings. 
  2. A Master of Arts Degree in Performing Arts or related discipline with a CGPA of not less than 4.0 on a 5-point scale from a recognized university 

FACULTY OF EDUCATION

DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE EDUCATION

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Library and Information Science. 

Postgraduate Diploma in Education. 

Master of Education, (M.Ed.) and Ph.D. in Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation.

M.Ed and Ph.D in Integrated Science Education, Mathematics Education, Chemistry Education, Biology Education and Physics Education.

Admission Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science (PGDLIS)

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings. 
  2. First Degree in any field of specialization with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University.
  3. Candidates with 3rd Class Degree in areas other than Library and Information Science with three years relevant post qualification experience may be considered for admission. 

d)       HND in Library and Information Science, at Upper Credit Level 

e)       Candidates who possess HND in Library and Information Science at a Lower Credit Level with 5     

          years cognate post-qualification experience may be considered.

Postgraduate Diploma in Education

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in five (5) relevant subjects including English Language  and Mathematics at not more than two sittings 
  2. First degree in any field of specialization with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a  recognized University.
  3. Higher National Diploma (HND) in Education with a minimum of Credit Level in any of the teaching subjects 
  4. Candidates with Higher National Diploma (HND) at Credit Level in any field of specialization with 3 years relevant post-qualification experience may be considered for admission.
  5. Candidates with 3rd Class Degree in any area of specialization, with three years relevant post-qualification experience, may be considered for admission. 

 

M.Ed. Physics Education Programme

 

Admission Requirements:

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  in at least 5 subjects  including English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and  one other subject, at not more than two sittings.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Physics Education with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University.
  3. Candidates with HND in Physics from recognized Polytechnics must in addition, possess a PGDE at  a minimum of Upper Credit level.

 

M.Ed. Integrated Science Education Programme

 Admission Requirements:

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in at least  5 subjects including   English Language, Mathematics and any one of Physics, Chemistry and Biology and any other two relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in any of the Science Education Programmes with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University.
  3. Candidates with HND in any of the Sciences from recognized Polytechnics must in addition possess a PGDE at a minimum of Upper Credit Level.

 

M.Ed. Chemistry Education Programme

 Admission Requirements:

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least  5 subjects including English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics   and any other subject at not more than two sittings.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry Education with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University. 
  3. Candidates with HND in Chemistry from approved Polytechnics must in addition possess a PGDE at a minimum of Upper Credit Level.

M.Ed. Biology Education Programme

Admission Requirements:

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least   5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Biology and two other relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Biology Education with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognized university.
  3. Candidates with HND in Biology from approved Polytechnics must in addition possess a PGDE at  a minimum of Upper Credit level.

M.Ed. Mathematics Education Programme

Admission Requirements:

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least  5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics Education with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University.
  3. Candidates with HND in Mathematics from recognized Polytechnics must in addition possess a PGDE at a minimum of Upper Credit Level.

M.Ed. Educational Research, Measurement & Evaluation Programme

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least  5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics and any other three relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.
  2. B.Sc. Degree in any Education Programme with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division from an approved University 
  3. Candidates with HND in any of the l Sciences from approved Polytechnics must in addition possess a PGDE at a minimum of Upper Credit Level. 

Ph.D. Physics Education Programme

Admission Requirements:

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least  5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other relevant subject at not more than two sittings  
  2. Master's Degree in Physics Education with a CGPA of 4.00 on a 5-point scale or 60% (B). 

Ph.D. Chemistry Education Programme

Admission Requirements:

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least  5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and any other subject at not more than two sittings  
  2. Master's Degree in Chemistry Education with a CGPA of 4.00 on a 5-point scale or 60% (B).

Ph.D. Biology Education Programme

Admission Requirements:

  1.  SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least  5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry,  Biology and any other subject at not more than two sittings  
  2. Master's Degree in Biology Education with a CGPA of 4.00 on a 5- point scale or 60% (B).

 

Ph.D. Mathematics Education Programme

Admission Requirements:

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least  5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and   any other subject at not more than two sittings  
  2. Master's Degree in Mathematics Education with a CGPA of 4.00 on a 5 -point scale or 60% (B).

Ph.D. Integrated Science Education Programme

Ph.D. EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH, MEASUREMENT &EVALUATION PROGRAMME

 (a)    SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least   5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics and any other three relevant subjects at not more than two sittings

(b)    Master?s degree in Educational  Research, Measurement & Evaluation with a CGPA of 4.00 on a 5-point scale or 60% (B).

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.  

Master of Engineering (M.Eng) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering with specialization in: Electronics, Telecommunication, Communications Network and Security.

Admission Requirements

PGD Programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering 

  1. SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in  at least  5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other relevant subject at not more than two sittings  
  2. Minimum of Third Class Degree at the Bachelor?s Level in a related area from a recognised University. 
  3. HND with a minimum of Upper Credit in a related area from a recognized institution. 
  4. Holders of the HND with a Lower Credit and a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification relevant experience may be considered.
