Prince Otobong D. Akan is Researcher/Lecturer with the Microbiology Department, Akwa-Ibom State University, South-South Nigeria. His area of expertise span biotechnology, molecular biology, applied microbiology in food, industrial, environmental, and health fields. Akan completed his O?level education in 2000 at the Command Day Secondary School, Abakpa, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu Cantonment, and both his first and second degrees at the Microbiology Department, University of Uyo, Uyo in 2008 and 2014, respectively. He is currently undergoing staff development at the prestigious National Engineering Laboratory for Deep Process of Rice and Byproducts, Hunan Key Laboratory of Processed Food for Special Medical Purpose, College of Food Science and Engineering, Central South University of Forestry and Technology (CSUFT), Hunan, PRC.

He holds a few International and local awards in his kitty, including

(1) The Prestigious Hunan Province Postgraduate Scholarship awards?2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic years;

(2) Silver position, 5th?China College Students? Internet plus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, Chinese Ministry of Education and Tencent company, China, October 2019;

(3) Gold Medal, China Construction Bank Cup, CSUFT, China, October 2019;

(4) Excellence Award, AIIB-Country specific Economic and Cultural Forum, June 2019;

(5) Service Leadership Award, Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE- now Enactus-https://enactus.org/) Headquarters, Missouri, U.S.A., 2006;

(6) and multiple Leadership Excellence Awards?from the University of Uyo SIFE team (now Enactus), amongst others.

Before his deployment at the Akwa-Ibom State University in 2015, Akan held several administrative positions, including Coordinating the Cambridge International Examination Center, Fortune Schools system, Uyo (2008-2013). He belongs to Nigerian (NSM) and American (ASM) Societies for Microbiology, with scientific peer reviewed articles in microbiology, food science, and molecular biology. Prince Otobong Akan has attended and presented at numerous international and local academic fora and webinars.
