The\nFaculty is mandated to produce graduates that are adequately equipped with the\ncomprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for engaging\nin productive and economic agricultural production.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Dean’s Profile<\/h2>\n

Prof. Mrs. Jemimah Ekanem<\/b>\nis an esteemed academic, administrator, and advocate for rural development and\nwomen\u2019s empowerment. She is the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Akwa Ibom\nState University (AKSU) and a Professor in Agricultural Economics and\nExtension, specializing in agricultural extension, rural sociology, and\ndevelopment. With a robust academic foundation that includes degrees from the\nUniversity of Uyo (B.Agric., 1998; M.Sc., 2008) and Michael Okpara University\nof Agriculture (Ph.D., 2013), Prof. Ekanem has made significant contributions\nto teaching, research, and administration. Her career highlights include\nserving as the Director of Quality Assurance at AKSU, pioneering the Faculty\u2019s\nInternship Program, and advancing agricultural communication, extension administration,\nand rural development practices.<\/o:p><\/p>

A prolific researcher, Prof.\nEkanem has over 60 publications in national and international journals,\nco-authored two books, and contributed to several book chapters. She is a\nco-founder of the Society for Community and Communication Development Research and\nserves as Managing Editor of the Journal of Community and Communication\nResearch<\/i>. Her work has earned accolades, including Best Paper Awards at\ninternational conferences in Dubai (2015) and Ethiopia (2017). A member of\nprofessional bodies like AESON, FAMAN, and AIAEE, she has presented at over 30\nglobal conferences and is deeply involved in advancing sustainable agricultural\npractices through her research and professional engagements.<\/o:p><\/p>

Beyond academia, Prof. Ekanem is\ncommitted to societal development through the Jemitim Foundation, which\npromotes girl-child education and provides scholarships for outstanding\nstudents in agriculture. Hailing from Ibesikpo Asutan in Akwa Ibom State and married\nwith five children, she balances her professional responsibilities with a\nstrong commitment to family. Her extensive contributions to education,\nresearch, and philanthropy have positioned her as a leader in agricultural\nextension and rural sociology, making a profound impact on communities and the\nacademic landscape in Nigeria.<\/o:p><\/p>

2<\/td>Animal Science<\/td>At least five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and one of Physics, Geography or Economics. A candidate with 6 credit passes at not more than 2 sittings but a pass in Physics may be admitted.<\/td><\/tr>
3<\/td>Crop Science<\/td>At least five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics. A candidate with 5 credit passes at not more than 2 sittings but a pass in Physics may be admitted.<\/td><\/tr>
