The Director of Centre\nfor Automotive Training, Transport and Logistics (CATTL), Akwa Ibom State\nUniversity (AKSU) is the Immediate Past Ag. Head, Department of Mechanical\nEngineering, Faculty of Engineering, Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU). He is the Immediate Former Chapter Chairman\nof the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE), Akwa Ibom State\nChapter, a former National Council Member and a Fellow of the Institution.<\/span>

He holds B.Eng (Mech)\nSecond Class Upper in 2002 from the University of Uyo, an M.Sc (TurboM) in 2007\nfrom the University of Sussex, United Kingdom and a Ph.D. (Mech. Eng), 2014,\nUniversity of Sussex, United Kingdom. He is a Mechanical Engineer with specialization\nin Turbomachinery.<\/span> Prior to his present position at AKSU, Dr. Ekong was\na researcher at the Thermo-Fluid Mechanics Research Centre and Rolls-Royce\nSupported University Technology Centre, University of Sussex, United Kingdom,\nand the Best M.Sc., Student in Turbomachinery – Department of Engineering and\nDesign, School of Science and Technology, University of Sussex, United Kingdom\n(2006\/07 Academic Session). He is a Rolls-Royce Plc trained and Certificated\nResearch Engineer. A Reviewer for the\nAmerican Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) International Mechanical\nEngineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) 2013. General interests\ninclude, but are not limited to, gas turbine engine technologies, such as\nTurbomachinery design, internal air systems, and other flow system design for\ngas turbine engine applications; internal combustion engines and system\noptimization, general mechanical equipment and system optimization; creativity,\ncreativity tools, and innovation, especially their application in mechanical\nengineering processes and industries including structured brainstorming,\nlateral thinking and Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadatch (TRIZ),\nliterally: (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving); design process and design\nrationale; concept and system design. Management of the maintenance, repair\n& overhauls (hanger) section and general airport operations using 40\nInventive principles. <\/span> He is actively\ninvolved in engineering research, development, and application, including, but\nnot limited to, Advances in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Technology,\nProblem Solving in Engineering Education, Research, and Practice. He has\ncontributed to thirty-two (32) internationally refereed journals, conferences,\nand technical publications, with ten (10) international technical presentations\nand four (4) local technical presentations. <\/span> Godwin Ekong has been involved in International\nMechanical Engineering Research, Development, and Application as a\nCo-investigator with Rolls-Royce Plc and the European Union (EU), in an EU\nFramework 6 programme called New Aero Core Concept (NEWAC). He has attended over 100 conferences,\nseminars, workshops, and training programmes. And has presented ten (10)\ntechnical presentations at six (6) International conferences by the American\nSociety of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in Denver \u2013 Colorado, USA; Texas, USA;\nSan Diego \u2013 California, USA; the European TRIZ Association (ETRIA) in Dublin \u2013\nRepublic of Ireland, Lisbon \u2013 Portugal, Paris \u2013France and a presenter in three\n(3) Rolls-Royce Supported University Technology Centre, University of Sussex,\nUnited Kingdom seminars. He has also presented two (2) technical\npresentations at NIMechE Akwa Ibom State Chapter\u2019s organized conference and\nworkshop, and one (2) Nigerian Society of Engineers, Public Technical Lectures for NSE Uyo Branch and NSE Eket Branch\nrespectively. <\/span><\/p>\n\n A member of two (2)\nprofessional research groups namely the Rolls-Royce \/ University of Sussex, New\nAero-engine Core Concept (NEWAC) Team, and the European Union NEWAC Team. He is\nalso a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), U.S.A,\nInstitution of Engineering and Technology (IET), U.K, Institution of Mechanical\nEngineers (IMechE), U.K, The European TRIZ Association (ETRIA), Nigerian\nSociety of Engineers (NSE) and the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical\nEngineers. He is a registered Council for the Regulation of Engineering in\nNigeria (COREN) Engineer.
