Essien. The Pioneer Director\nof the Centre is Engr. Dr. Godwin I. Ekong. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;\nline-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">The Centre runs\nprogrammes leading to the award of Certificates in Automotive Training and\nTransport and Logistics. The programmes are for six months duration of study\nconsisting of six months of intensive lectures, seminars, practical work, and\ntwo weeks of industrial training. These programmes are prepared to meet the\nbasic academic requirements of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in\nNigeria (COREN) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)\nas well as other such bodies. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p><p>\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;\nline-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">The Centre is solidly\nestablished and will enjoy full accreditation from the Council for the\nRegulation of Engineering (COREN) and other such bodies.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<h2>Philosophy of the Programme<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;line-height:115%;\nfont-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;\nmso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA\">The\nphilosophy of the Centre for Automotive Training, Transport and Logistics\n(CATTL) of the Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) is to produce highly trained\nauto\u2013technicians, Transport and Logistics personnel with profound diagnostic\nskills, theoretical and practical academic backgrounds to cope with a broad\nspectrum of challenges of self-reliance in automotive industries and national\ndevelopment. The curriculum of this programme is designed to develop skilled\nauto-technician and Transport personnel workforce to solve challenging\nautomotive technological, transport, and logistics problems.<\/span><br><\/p>\n\n<h2>Mission Statement<\/h2>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:normal\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">In line with the\nmission of the University, the Centre aims to apply sound and explicable\nscientific and engineering principles in training and research towards\ninnovation, diagnostics, management, and maintenance of automotive systems,\ntransport, and logistics services.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n\n<h2>Vision Statement<\/h2>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:normal\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); letter-spacing: 0.2px; text-align: start; word-spacing: 2px;\">The vision of the Centre for Automotive Training, Transport and Logistics (CATTL) is to produce scientifically and technologically knowledgeable technicians and artesian for the Automotive Industries, Government, Oil and Gas, Aviation, Transport and Logistics, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Health and Education sectors, as well as the Leisure Industries, and Consultancy Services amongst others.<\/span><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2>Objective of the Programme<\/h2>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;\nline-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">The primary objective of\nthe Centre for Automotive Training, Transport and Logistics in AKSU is to train\nstudents, auto-technicians, auto-mechanics, drivers, and transport officers who\nwill be proficient in the application of scientific and automotive principles\nto develop necessary technical skills and techniques for diagnosis and services\nof automotive vehicles, equipment and the provision of the needed services\nincluding ease of transportation and logistics of materials, goods and person\nin the nation in particular, and human society in general.&nbsp; Thus, the specific aims of the programme are\nto develop properly and highly trained students, auto-technicians,\nauto-mechanics, drivers, and transport officers, and automotive, mechanical,\nand aerospace engineers who can:<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;\nline-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">(i)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Design and produce components,\nmachines, equipment, and systems with local raw materials towards global\napplications.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;\nline-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">(ii)&nbsp; &nbsp;Design and develop new production\ntechniques and modify the existing ones for the effective operation of the\nnation\u2019s automotive industries and other sectors.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;\nline-height:115%;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">(iii)&nbsp;
