 Professor Nsikak E. Bassey studied in St Andrews Lutheran Primary School, Ogoja, Cross River State, and Government School Ikot Obong Edong Ekoi, Ikot Ekpene, Lutheran High School, Obot Idim , Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, all in Akwa Ibom State. He also studied at the following higher institutions: University of Jos, where he obtained BSc in geology and mining, University of Calabar, where he got an MSc in geology, majoring in exploration geophysics. He obtained a PhD in geology at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa university, Bauchi. His lecturing career started at Federal University of Technology, Yola in 1991as an assistant lecturer, and rose to an Associate Professor in 2007. He was a visiting lecturer to Gombe State University, Gombe from 2012-2015. In 2008-2009 he was on sabbatical leave as Research Advisor to Shell Petroleum Dev Co, Port Harcourt. His research publications are 47 in national and international journals. Google scholars citations is137. He has worked and published works in magnetic, gravity, radiometric, remote sensing, structural geology and environmental geology on Nigeria’s north east Basement Complex (Hawal Massif), Gongola Basin, Yola Rift Basin, and Niger Delta. He served as head of department of geology at Federal university of Technology, Yola 2007-2008. From 2016- 2019 he was the Director  of General Studies, Akwa Ibom State University, and was appointed Dean of Physical Sciences in 20019, and served till 2021. Thereafter he became Director of the University Research Board. Prof Nsikak E Bassey has supervised students at B.Tech, B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degree levels. He has attended several workshops and academic conferences and partaken in geological field exercises in Precambrian Basement, Jurassic Ring Complexes, Sedimentary Basins in Nigeria. He is happily married to Enaotune and the union is blest with two children. Prof Bassey cycles, road skates and plays tennis.
