Educational Qualifications
Ph.D and MSc; (Univ. of Surrey, UK) and B.Eng (Federal Univ. of Techology, Owerri, Nigeria);

Dr. Ukommi, is a goal-driven engineer, he obtained Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) Nigeria. He, broaden his scope of knowledge, skills, engineering research and development activities, and completed his Master (M.Sc.) in Mobile and Satellite Communications and a doctorate programme (Ph.D) in Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Surrey, United Kingdom. In order to enhance his productivity as a competent research and development project engineer, he enrolled for professional training and certification in project management methodology at APMG-International, London, UK.

Professional and Academic Experience
Dr. Ukommi, is the pioneer Postgraduate Coordinator of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Akwa Ibom State University. He has made contributions to the advancement of engineering and technology through presentations and publications of significant research findings in reputable journals and conferences in London, UK, California, USA, and Nigeria. He is a member of international and national professional organisations including Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), New York, USA, Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, International Association of Engineers (IAEng), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigeria.

Professionally, Dr. Ukommi, is involved in the activities of Association of Consulting Engineers in Nigeria (ACEN). He is a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), where he served in the Executive Council as a technical secretary (2017-2019) and Ex-officio (2019-2020), at Uyo Branch, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He is a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), where engineering programmes and policies are formulated and regulated for best practices in Nigeria.

Industrially, Dr. Ukommi, started his career as instrumentation engineering trainee (IT) at the Maintenance Support (Instrumentation Unit), ExxonMobil. He later joined Technopak Limited, for advanced electrical engineering designs and implementations. He served (NYSC) at the engineering department, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Zamfara State. Having completed his Master programme (M.Sc), he worked for ViewMedia Limited, UK, as a team member consulting, developing, supporting and reviewing engineering designs, project implementation and upgrading of infrastructure and facilities for improved quality of communication experience. Dr. Ukommi, was a team player in the design of “Ground Station” project at Surrey Space Centre, jointly funded by the University of Surrey and Surrey Satellite Technology limited, UK. The design allowed ground control station to communicate better with spacecraft and shared information with astronauts via internet. He had also taught undergraduate programme modules in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Surrey, under the supervision of his then Ph.D research supervisor in the UK. He, has been involved in the consultancy team for the construction of international terminal facilities at Victor Attah international airport, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

Dr. Ukommi, has interest in research programme, contributing to the global development and poverty eradication by translating acquired knowledge, skills and experiences into problem solving activities for self-reliance and sustainable economic development.
