Engr. Dr. Christopher Brownson Afangideh was born on 27th December, 1971 at Ikot Umo Essien in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. 

Engr. Dr. Christopher Brownson Afangideh started his higher education when he gained admission into the Polytechnic, Calabar in 1987 and obtained his National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 1989.

He further proceeded to the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he bagged a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) degree in Mechanical Engineering and in 1997. He obtained his Master of Engineering (M.Eng) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D), respectively,  in 2004 and 2010 both in Civil Engineering with specialty in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

After his compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), he started his career in academia when he joined the services of Heritage Polytechnic, Eket formerly called Osisatech Polytechnic, Eket Campus between 1999-2004 where he rose from the rank of a Principal Lecturer to Chief Lecturer.
 
He was appointed the Director of School of Engineering, a position he held for six (6) years. He had also served as Acting Rector in Heritage Polytechnic, Eket in 2010 at the resignation of the pioneer Rector.

Engr. Dr. Christopher Brownson Afangideh is a practicing Engineer with a wealth of experience in both industry and academics. He later joined Shell Petroleum development company limited, Port Harcourt between 2005-2010 as a Maintenance Engineer (Supervisor) in charge of heavy, medium and light automobile equipment. In 2006, he was relocated to Shell outstation in Bonny Terminal as a Senior Maintenance Engineer. Dr. Afangideh

Due to his penchant for academics,  he left the services of the company and was employed into Akwa Ibom State University in 2012 as a lecturer I. That same year, due to his wealth of experience, he was also appointed as the Acting Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. At the expiration of his tenure, he was re-appointed in the same position and held it till 2016. He got promoted to the rank of a Senior Lecturer in 2020.

He is currently the Ag Head of Department of Civil Engineering and also the coordinator of Postgraduate Programme at the Department. He is member of Senate council.

Engr. Dr. Christopher Brownson Afangideh has contributed immensely in the building of Akwa Ibom State University since inception of the institution, especially in the field of Engineering. He has served the University in various capacities. He was the appointed the Chairman, Disciplinary Committee and Examination Misconduct in the Faculty of Engineering between 2012-2016. The Senate also appointed him as a member of the standing Committee/Panel for all Students Unrest in the University.

At the State level, he is a member of “Examination Ethics International” which was inaugurated under the auspices of Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Education.

He is a registered member of several Engineering professional bodies, such as Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) and a licensed Engineer with Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is also a registered member of the Institution of Water Engineers in Nigeria.

Engr. Dr. Christopher Afangideh is a Christian with high moral virtue and integrity. As a mark of his Christian faith he went for Christian Pilgrimage to Jerusalem and acquired a Jerusalem Pilgrimage Certificate (JP) awarded at Jerusalem in 2013.

Finally, Dr. Afangideh has to his credit numerous publications in International and  National Journals and also in refereed proceedings. Furthermore, he has presented many papers in various International Conferences. He is the author of the book titled “The Hidden Treasure.” He is a visiting lecturer to many Nigerian University and Polytechnics.
