Profile
Mr. Ekan David Akpan was born on 21st October,1962 in Ikot Udo Abia, Etinan LGA in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
His primary/secondary education were at St. Martin’s UNA School, Ikot Udo Abia; Community Secondary Commercial School, Ikot Eba, Etinan LGA.
He has B.Sc.(Banking) from Sussex College of Technology (1986) by correspondence, B.Sc. (Public Administration) University of Port Hacourt (1987), MPA (2006) University of Calabar, MSc. (2019) Abia State University, Uturu, PhD (Public Administration) in view from Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden. He has proficiency certificates in administration and finance.
He has worked in both banking and financial industries for over twenty (20) years and also attended various trainings and workshops. He has also been a key resource fellow in the establishment of a few Micro-Finance Banks in the country.
Mr. Ekan Akpan joined Akwa Ibom State University (Aksu) in 2012 as an Administrative Officer and got converted to an Assistant Lecturer in 2013 on the recommendation of the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, late Prof. D. O. Mbat.
He has served in the university as an Administrative Officer in the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences and as a Lecturer in the Department of Public Administration since then. He was instrumental for creation of Banking and Finance Department(AKSU) in 2020. He is also extensively published papers including Journal articles, Conference Papers and chapters in referred books in Administration and Entrepreneurship.
Professionally, He is a fellow member (FCPA) of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (CILPAN); Fellow, Global Teachers Development Network (FGDN). He serves as an Elder in his church.
Mr. Ekan Akpan is happily married to Mrs. Mandu Akpan, their marriage is blessed with three children and two grandchildren.
