Engr. Godwin Edem Akpan hails from Ikot Ambit in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He attended Government Technical College, Ewet, Uyo and obtained his National Technical Certificate and Federal Craft Training Certificate in 2002. He had his West African School Certificate in 2007 from Uduakobong Comprehensive High School, Uyo. He graduated with a B.Eng. degree in Agricultural Engineering from University of Uyo, Uyo, Nigeria in 2013 and M.Sc. degree in Agricultural Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 2018. Between 2013 and 2014, Engr. Akpan taught Agricultural Science in Eda-Ile Community High School, Eda-Ile Ekiti, Ekiti State while serving in the NYSC scheme. He was a Field Executive in Dragnet Solutions Limited, Apapa, Lagos State, Nigeria.?

He joined the services of Akwa Ibom State University as Graduate Assistant in 2016 and was upgraded to the rank of a Lecturer II in 2019. He is a member of several professional bodies, including Registered Engineer, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN); Graduate Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM); Member, Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE). He has research interest in Processing, Handling and Storage of Crayfish, Studies on the Properties of Tropical Crops and Oil Seeds, Development of Appropriate Technology for Crop Processing, Design of Driers, Mathematical Modeling of Process Kinetics and Application of Information Technology in Agriculture.?

Engr. Akpan has received distinguished awards such as Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited Scholarship Award and Akwa Ibom State University Staff Development Award. He has published many Journals and Conference Papers. Engr. Akpan is happily married with two children.
