Profile


Ofonmbuk E. Atakpa is a lecturer in the Department of Public Administration, Akwa Ibom State University. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Public Administration from the University of Uyo and is a Member, Association of Nigeria Public Administrators; Member, National Political Science Association of Nigeria,(NPSA); Associate, Chattered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (CILGPAN); and Associate, International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDS), Japan. A co-editor of the book ‘Politics of Global Environmental Polices, Dr. Atakpa is also the Secretary, Editorial Board of AKSU Journal of Administration and Corporate Governance (AKSUJACOG). Also in this category of responsibilities is the fact that Dr. Atakpa has consistently served as Marker for the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, Uyo Study Centre since 2018. He also served as an Examiner during the NOUN’s first semester 2021 examination setting exercise. 

Dr. Atakpa who has attended many National and International Conferences, has written many academic articles in reputable journals and books of reading. His research interests span significant sub-fields of public administration including Public Policy, Comparative Public Administration, Development Studies, Traditional Administrative Systems, Global Environmental Management etc.

Among the activities undertaken by Dr. Atakapa in the University, outside normal schedule include: Chairman, Quality Assurance Committee, Department of Public Administration; Chairman, Examination Misconduct/Disciplinary Committee, Department of Public Administration; Examination Officer, Department of Public Administration, during the 2018/2019 session; and Departmental Coordinator, Project and Research Committee etc.

Outside the University, Dr. Atakpa is the Chancellor, Essien Udim Unity Forum and Multipurpose Cooperative Society. He is married with 3 children and enjoys reading, singing and working-out.
