Dr. Church Akpan hails from Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

He was first appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in 1999 in University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He thereafter grew through the ranks from Lecturer II, Lecturer I, Head of Department and in 2006, he became a Senior Lecturer at University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His stint in the Academia has further taken him to Cross River State University of Technology, Kogi State University, University of Port Harcourt, Nnamdi Azikiwe University and presently Akwa Ibom State University.

He had his Primary school education in St. Mark?s School Oron and Government Primary School, Utu Etim Ekpo, where on completion in 1966, proceeded to Holy Family College, Abak. He attended the London School of Television Production before proceeding in 1978 to the School of Journalism and Television, Berks, United Kingdom.
\r\n\r\n
In 1981, Dr. Church Akpan was admitted to study at the New York Institute of Technology, Manhattan, New York. On completion, he proceeded to Enugu State University of Science/Technology, University of Nigeria Nsukka, as well as University of Uyo.

He has attended many Conferences, Seminars and Workshops. Dr Church has published nearly 30 International and about 20 National Journals articles and he has many published books to his credit. He is currently an Associate Professor in Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU).
